Cardanol: a phenolic lipid compound obtained from anacardic acid, the main component of cashew nut shell oil (CNSL),a byproduct of cashew processing. Cardanol is used in the chemical industry to produce plastics, paints, friction materials, and as a surfactant used as a color dispersant for water inks.
